NOVA Spine & Injury Center
Your First Visit
What should I expect on my first visit?
On your first visit, you can expect to have a conversation with Dr. Shaffer about what’s bothering you. He will ask you many questions that will help him make an accurate diagnosis and develop an effective treatment plan. You will have some testing performed on you that will ask you to go through some ranges of motion to help the doctor pinpoint you specific problem. You may need to be sent out for special studies such as x-rays or a MRI, if your condition or age requires it, or if Dr. Shaffer needs more information to help him with your diagnosis.
These special studies are not needed with the majority of simple cases but if you have been in an accident or incurred some other traumatic injury expect to be sent for at least radiographs (x-rays). Finally, Dr. Shaffer will talk to you about his current working diagnosis and whether or not you are a candidate for chiropractic care. Following this discussion a personalized treatment protocol will be formulated to treat your specific condition.
Treatment ranges from just a few visits for simple conditions to weeks for more chronic or complicated conditions. Be assured that what ever your problem Dr. Shaffer and his staff’s goal are to get you feeling better so you can return to your life. We know that satisfied patients refer their family and friends so it is imperative to us, to get you better as soon as possible. When the patients are happy…everybody’s happy. We strive for the Win/Win situation.
On occasion we come across a patient who is not a good candidate for the type of care we provide. In situations like these we have some of the areas top doctors and professionals at our disposal and we will recommend the best alternative for your care.
